Tuesday$ Tip$

"Handy Bits of Information Just for You."

Coupons

1 ) Ask your favorite brand for savings: If you don't see your most-used products offering coupons, ask for them! Look on the box or bottle and find the manufacturer's toll-free number. Call and request a coupon, most manufacturers will be happy to oblige a loyal customer.

Household

1) Sticky zipper? Rub a bar of soap along the teeth, on both sides. This should lubricate it enough to get it moving.

2) Remove bottle tops and jar lids by wearing a pair of rubber gloves. You can also place a fat rubber band around the lid, then twist open.

Beauty

1) For foot fungal infections, soak feet daily for 30 minutes in white vinegar. May take up to 3 months for full effect.

2) Put a coat of clear nail polish on BEFORE applying color. This will keep your nails from becoming discolored by the polish.

3) Make your own leave in conditioner. Using a spray bottle, add 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of your favorite conditioner and add warm water to fill. Toss gently to mix and spray when needed.

Children

1) To get kids to eat more veggies, try sneaking them in by pureeing veggies and adding to sauces, muffins, smoothies and mashed potatoes.

2) Encourage bedtime by lowering the temperature. Our bodies are sensitive to temperature and the body clock responds better to cooler temps helping increase REM sleep.

Money

1) Have a cooling off period. Before making a big purchase, commit yourself to waiting a set time -say 24-48 hours. This helps to prevent impulse buying and allows you to rethink spending money on unneeded purchases.

2) Gather some friends or neighbors together and have a yard sale. Don't give your stuff away but make sure to price things to sell. The goal is to clear out items no longer being used and save your earnings. Bonus, you now have more space, feeling less cluttered can be a stress reliever.

3) Move. Take a serious look about moving to a less expensive area – if you can find work there, then a move can definitely put you in better financial shape and increase your enjoyment in life. This one can be difficult to imagine and tough for some to accept. Hubby and I made this decision just this past week and while it has been emotionally tiring to think about (something we've talked about for years), we're excited to know financially, we'll be better off. We've decided to move from Florida to Alabama and have set a time frame of 3 months. While the move will initially cost us, we'll save over $700 per month doing this...in a year that's an extra $8400.00 we'll have.
