Need a Heater this Winter? My Review.

So you all know I moved to Alabama by now, what you may not know is that the house we rented has no central heat and air. It's helped us save on the electric bill big time, but not so good for comfort when it's getting chilly outside. We've only had a few cool nights and it's getting ready to get even cooler. While we have 2 propane wall heaters, I simply refuse to pay $200 a month to fill the tank on top of paying an electric bill. To help keep things cozy, hubby and I bought a few heaters, one was the DeLonghi Oil-filled radiator above.

Coming from Central Florida, I've never needed to own any type of heater before, so this was a new experience. Hubby and I (thoroughly confused at that point) researched many sites, because if you've never needed one, you wouldn't know how many various types of space-heaters there are, nor how they work. Did we want dry heat? Fan-boosted warm air? Cold rooms and toasty feet? After figuring out what the options were. We narrowed our choices down to what we personally required:
  • Heats up larger rooms
  • Some sort of temperature control
  • Safe to operate
  • Good ratings
  • Not a budget breaker
  • Affordable to actually use when it's cold
The DeLonghi radiator fit the bill perfectly and we haven't been disappointed since we got it. It arrived safe and sound, we simply plugged it in and turned it on. Some people have said there is a slight smell when first using these heaters, but we never experienced that ourselves. The lowest temperature we've reached outside thus far has been 28 degrees, yet my home stays a comfortable 68 (by our choice). We have one in the kitchen/dining room, which is about 20 x 40, with ceilings at 9 feet and another in the living room, measuring the same size. Our son has another brand small heater just for his room and hubby and I don't even bother with one in ours.

This heater won't give you instant heat, but if you turn it on in advance, your rooms will be cozy in about an hour (we set ours BEFORE it gets dark on cold nights, so it never gets cool at all). It's also super quiet and will auto shut-off if it should ever begin to overheat. I have to tell you, it doesn't look bad either.

I thought I would share my experience with you all, as I hope it will help another who maybe is confused as I was. The DeLonghi radiators have a good reputation and after using one myself, I can tell you, they live up to it! While I paid $65.00 for mine over a month ago, they are now on sale at Amazon for $49.99 with FREE Super Saver Shipping!!!
